How Will Your First Pelvic Floor Session Look?
Detailed History Taking
You will receive forms to complete at home prior to your appointment. Your physiotherapist will conduct a comprehensive assessment by asking questions related to bladder and bowel function, sexual health, and menstrual symptoms.
External Assessment
The external assessment includes:
- Functional body scan to evaluate overall posture and movement patterns
- Breathing awareness assessment to examine breathing mechanics
- Lumbar and hip assessment to identify any contributing factors
- External examination of the pelvic area as appropriate
Internal Assessment
Internal assessment is an important tool for physiotherapists to evaluate pelvic floor muscles. It provides valuable information about muscle tightness, strength, and tone. Internal assessment allows our therapists to treat the area using various specialized internal techniques.
Our physiotherapist will guide you throughout the entire treatment process.
Important Note: Internal assessment is never mandatory if you don’t feel comfortable. Your comfort and consent are our top priorities.
Treatment Plan
After the assessment, your physiotherapist will discuss a customized treatment plan with you that may include:
- Comprehensive education about your condition and how to manage it
- Pelvic floor strengthening exercises tailored to your needs
- Relaxation techniques to release muscle tension and tightness
- Home exercise program for continued progress between sessions
- Recommended number of sessions and treatment timeline
We believe in prioritizing our clients and addressing their individual concerns.
